You have options, let’s see what is best for YOU.
You are not alone. The majority of folks who are new to medicare do not know how to start the process or even who to talk to. You get mailers and solicitation calls from people and insurance agencies that you have never heard of and everything just starts becoming more and more confusing. Below is some information to help you get started.
Step One:
About 6 months prior to turning 65 is the time to start thinking about your medicare options. Will you still be working? Will your employer plan still cover you? How do you get enrolled in Medicare? What to do next? These are all very common questions. Lindsay will sit down with you and help guide you through every step. Picking the right plan for you is important and every person is a unique situation. Considering your health conditions, financial abilities, medications you take, and the doctors that you visit are all factors that help guide you to the plan that will fit your needs best. This is why Step One is to set up a time for a phone call with Lindsay and talk about your next steps. You can schedule your phone call by CLICKING ABOVE and picking an available time on the calendar.
STEP two:
Apply for Medicare Part A and B. In most situations, this can be completed online HERE. In some situations, you may have to visit the nearest Social Security office. You should do this 3 months before you turn 65 even if you are not ready to start receiving retirement benefits. You may not need to sign up for Part B at this time, depending on your circumstances. You will receive your Medicare card a few weeks later.
step three
You have received your Medicare card (shown), now it is time to pick your health plan. There are many options: supplements, Advantage plans, prescription drug plans, and dental & vision. Depending on your medications, doctors, and monthly budget; your plan may look very different than your friends and maybe even your spouse. This is when we meet with you and show you your options. Many times we meet with clients in their homes because you have easier access to your prescription bottles and due to the nature of the conversation, your privacy is our greatest concern. You can also choose to schedule a time to meet in our office in downtown El Dorado, KS. We often meet with clients on weekends and in the evenings to accommodate busy schedules.
